What is Prilosec (Omeprazole)

Omeprazole, offered under the brand names Prilosec and Losec to name a few, is a medication used in the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux illness, peptic ulcer disease, and Zollinger-- Ellison syndrome. It works by reducing the amount of acid your stomach makes. This drug eases signs like heartburn, trouble swallowing, and relentless cough. Follow all directions on your prescription label and read all medication guides or direction sheets. Use the medicine precisely as directed. Notify your medical professional at once if you experience: diarrhea that is bloody or watery; or low magnesium (lightheadedness, confusion, fast or unequal heart rate, jerking muscle motions, jittery feeling, muscle cramps, muscle weakness or limp feeling, cough or choking feeling, seizure).
